What do Figure Eight collect?
We collect and process the following information:
- Name and Date of Birth.
- Contact Details/Address.
- Any information that is voluntarily given by a candidate on a CV.
- If you are a candidate applying for a specific job that Figure Eight Yacht Management represents, we may also collect information regarding job title, next of kin, passport, Seamans Discharge Book, VISAs, and relevant qualifications.
- If it is necessary, banking details to facilitate salary payment.
How do we collect data?
Most of the information we collect and process has been directly and voluntarily given by you, either by sending us your CV or when you engage our services.
Why do we collect your data?
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, the lawful bases we rely on for processing your information are legitimate interest and legal obligation.
We use legitimate interest to:
- Provide a better service to you whether this be crew placement, yacht management, compliance management etc.
- Provide a trail of accountability for all parties.
- Inform candidates of suitable positions and yacht owners of suitable candidates.
- Keep all parties updated with regard to ongoing communications.
- Sending relevant and specific information to candidates and clients regarding services Figure Eight Yacht Management can provide.
We use legal obligation to:
- Ensure we comply with Flag State and Certifying Authority regulations.
- Check right to work.
- Check whether the candidate is over minimum working age.
Sharing your data
We may share your data with third parties in certain circumstances. Examples include but not limited to:
- Passing necessary information from a CV to a yacht owner (legitimate interest).
- Providing basic bank details of crew to yacht owners or their accounts department to facilitate payment (legitimate interest).
- Sending identifying information or qualifications to a governing body eg. MCA when supporting a formal process (legal obligation).
Figure Eight Yacht Management will seek your consent before sharing any data with a third party under legitimate interest but not under legal obligation.
How do we store your personal information?
Your personal information is stored via a secure internet server for as long as needed to provide our services or for any minimum timeframe as set out in regulations we abide by. If you wish your data to be destroyed, you must inform us via writing to our postal or email addresses at the top of the policy. Your data will only be accessed by employees of Figure Eight Yacht Management Ltd.
